Cocoa Dusted Almonds

These delicious, slightly sweet and salty almonds help satisfy a chocolate craving without adding the extra fat of butter or oil. Just a few popped into your mouth can satisfy a craving while the protein in the almonds helps to avoid blood sugar spikes. makes 2 cups.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole raw, un-roasted, almonds
  • 2 Tbsp honey or agave syrup (I substituted a sprinkle of stevia to taste
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • 2 Tbsp unsweetened coca powder

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    In a large bowl combine almonds, honey or agave syrup, and salt. Use a rubber spatula to mix together, fully coating almonds.

    Spread almonds in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, stirring twice during baking to prevent almonds from burning.

    Remove baking sheet from the oven. Immediately return almonds to the bowl. Sift cocoa powder over the top of the almonds, and toss to coat. Store in an air-tight container.
